Teak furniture

This article does not aim to promote some furniture companies, including the furniture company that employs me (i don’t listed it here). I write this article to provide guidance and tips for newcomers in the teak furniture business. A direction for a new importers of teak furniture to find an appropriate and well established teak furniture manufacturers in Indonesia.

Jepara, a furniture industrial district in Indonesia knowledgeable about 1.004 km2 area with a population of 1.300.000 inhabitants. In CIFOR document ‘ATLAS OF WOODEN FURNITURE INDUSTRY IN JEPARA, INDONESIA’, there are 3.597 registered enterprises in 2004 according to Jepara administrative district statistics. There are also many ‘unregistered’ enterprises

Among  3597 registered company, who is most eligible  to contact for furniture business negotiation?

My observation, since 1990 there are some companies that are always healthy, and get public attention on its grows. Here are 7 teak furniture manufacturer companies that i have ever visited and known some of their employees.

1. DUTA JEPARA
   Established in 1978, Duta Jepara has been exporting teak furniture since 1994. As the big supplier of wooden products, the company have been assessment by SmartWood in 1999 and certified on 2000. The most popular good things that i’ve heard regarding this company is its management loyalty and commitment to the customers.

2. KOTA JATI FURINDO
   Known for wide range of product, classic style, colonial style, teak wood and teak aluminium furniture, Kota Jati Furindo has been the most popular furniture manufacturer in Jepara.  What i know about this company is its products, facility, and its growing rapidly.

3. KALINGGA JATI
   CV. Kalingga Jati prides it self on manufacturing high grade teak garden furniture. Every part of the processing, designing, cutting, sanding, finishing, quality control, and finally packing is done in its integrated furniture factory. I do not hear many things about this company, but I like to see the teak furniture products at its showroom. Especially, the giant folding chair displayed in front  of the showroom.

4. Chia-Jiann Indonesia
   Chia-Jiann Indonesia has developed a line of wood furniture with breaking edge technologies
   and 100% hand carving.  The factory is located in Jepara, Indonesia with 715,000 m2 of
   land and 300 handicraftsmen.  Each of our handicraftsmen has many years of experience in woodcarving.  My opinion after seeing its facility is its modern, professional and huge.

   An international company, a registered customer for Indonesian state owned Forestry Company (PERHUTANI). I never heard anything about this company, one of my neighborhood work there with sufficient salary.

   Monthly production capacity  30 of 40″ containers, 450 employees, Majawana achieved
   “Central Java Best Exporter – 1995″. My respect goes to the owner Mr. Waspada for his

7. BAROBA FURNITURE
   Producing high quality teak and aluminium furniture in 8000m2 factory, 78 woodworking machines and 12 welding units. Baking ovens and spray booths, able to implement a full powder coating system for the aluminum. I’m personally like this company for its innovation in producing teak aluminium furniture and investing in the baking oven facility.

Indeed, many other companies in Jepara are eligible to doing busines with, the companies above are listed because they are real manufacturer. The furniture production process from the early stage to the packing process is done in their own factory.
